THE ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF THE “BLACK BOX” SYSTEM TO PRESERVE INFORMATION IN THE BEYOND-DESIGN ACCIDENT CONDITIONS FOR UNIT 5 OF ZAPORIZHZHYA NPP HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT

In February 2019, the acceptance testing of the “Black Box” system to preserve information in the beyond-design accident conditions for unit 5 Zaporizhzhya NPP was carried out at the site of PJSC “SRPA “Impulse”, the system was created within the framework of implementation of the project “Complex (Consolidated) Safety Upgrade Program for NPP Units” using credit funds of EBRD/EURATOM.

The “Black Box” system is designated to acquire and register information about ZNPP units parameters in accident and post-accident conditions of within- and beyond-design accidents.

The aim of the acceptance testing of the “Black Box” system was as follows:

  • to define if the systems meet the requirements of the terms of reference;
  • to check if the design, operational, and program documentation for the systems meets the requirements of the normative documentation;
  • to assess readiness of the systems to be supplied to NPP to be installed and commissioned.

Based on the results of the acceptance testing, the commission consisting of representatives of ZNPP and PJSC “SRPA “Impulse” stated that the equipment submitted for the testing, as well as the design, operational, and program documentation for the “Black Box” system meet the requirements of the terms of reference and the normative documentation, the equipment is ready to be supplied to Unit 5 of Zaporizhzhya NPP.
