THE ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF THE ESFAS-2 I&C SYSTEM INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL SYSTEM OF THE SAFETY CONTROL SYSTEM FOR UNIT 5 OF ZAPORIZHZHYA NPP HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT

In May 2020, the acceptance testing of the instrumentation and control system of the safety control system of WWER-1000 (ESFAS-2 I&C system) for Unit 5 of Zaporizhzhya NPP was carried out at the site of PJSC “SRPA “Impulse”.

The ESFAS I&C system is designated to initiate actuation of safety systems, to monitor and control them in the process of execution of the given functions. The ESFAS I&C system assures implementation of the safety control function and the normal operation functions in the scope of the existing design of one channel of the safety control system (including technological protections, interlockings, warning, automatic regulation, remote control of actuators of the corresponding channel of the safety system), receipt of information on the state of the parameters of the technological processes with transmission to the process information system (IVS).

The aim of the acceptance testing of the ESFAS-2 I&C system for ZNPP-5 was as follows:

  • To confirm that the supply set of the equipment of the ESFAS I&C system for Unit 5 of SS ZNPP meets the requirements of the terms of reference, the design and normative documentation.

Based on the results of the acceptance testing, the commission consisting of representatives of Zaporizhzhya NPP and PJSC “SRPA “Impulse” stated that the testing was performed in accordance with the plan and the methodology for the given testing and the testing results confirm that the ESFAS I&C system meets the requirements of the terms of reference and the normative documentation. The design, operational, and program documentation for the ESFAS I&C system meets the requirements of the terms of reference and the equipment is ready to be supplied to Unit 5 of Zaporizhzhya NPP.
